Seek for Truth

Man’s Search for Truth
Religion and science through the ages of the earth have been a search for truth. Science has tried to make truth a proof process. It has not allowed feelings, sacred writings, prayers and spiritual beliefs or God to be part of what science considered truth. What science considered true at any given time has changed with the next new discovery. Copernicus finding that the world was not the center of all things is such a good example. Galileo who believed him was considered a hieratic and put under house arrest because he tried to scientifically show the sun was the center and he could see sun spots from his telescope. Science holds to theories of a Big Bang Creation without a Creator in charge and that man evolved from monkeys and where did they come from. These beliefs are offensive to those that hold that God is the organizer of the universe and man is created by God in his image. Quantum Physics replacing Newtonian Classical ideas of physical things makes us scratch our head and say "I don't get it."
The Nicean Creed as a belief about what God is like has been revised many times. Does the Godhead keep changing? No. So Man keeps trying to get a description of what the Godhead is really like. Religious beliefs are also so broad and diverse how can anyone figure out who is right and what is truth.
Joseph Smith born 23 Dec 1805 ask this question. His mother joined one church his dad joined none, some brothers and sisters went with his mother he saw that his parents couldn’t figure it out and the ministers of different faiths each contented that theirs was right. Joseph Smith describes his situation in the Times and Seasons dated March 1 1842 in the Wentworth Letter:
Considering that all could not be right, and that God could not be the author of so much confusion, I determined to investigate the subject more fully, believing that if God had a Church it would not be split up into factions, and that if He taught one society to worship one way, and administer in one set of ordinances, He would not teach another, principles which were diametrically opposed.
Believing the word of God I (Joseph Smith) had confidence in the declaration of James-‘If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.’ (James 1:5) I retired to a secret place in a grove, and began to call upon the Lord; while fervently engaged in supplication, my mind was taken away from the objects with which I was surrounded, and I was enwrapped in a heavenly vision, and saw two glorious personages, who exactly resembled each other in features and likeness, surrounded with a brilliant light which eclipsed the sun at noon day. They told me that all religious denominations were believing in incorrect doctrines, and that none of them was acknowledged of God as His Church and kingdom: and I was expressly commanded ’to go not after them,’ at the same time receiving a promise that the fullness of the Gospel should at some future time be made known me.”
A few years later Joseph Smith was visited by The Angel Moroni who after 4 years gave Joseph some gold plates from which Joseph translated “The Book of Mormon” and organized “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints”.
We each face the same dilemma Joseph Smith faced. How do we each personally find truth. Very near the end of “The Book of Mormon” this promise is given to all who seek and earnestly desire to find truth:
And when ye shall receive these things. I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. Moroni 10: 4,5

Wow! Each of us can figure out the truth for ourself. Here is the formula. Science proves things by writing an equation about how something works .
This is an equation: Truth by power of Holy Ghost=ask, with sincere heart, with real intent, have faith in Christ.
Joseph Smith and many others through the ages and today have seen God. Joseph Smith stated:
"We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost."
We each need to find truth.

In my own life I search for truth. I want to have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, which I am promised each week as I make a covenant with God that I will always remember him, keep his commandments, and take his name upon me. I take the sacrament bread at church and eating this bread and remembering Jesus’s body I make this covenant.

Helen Pawlowski sought for truth. For 35 years she studied the Periodic Chart and one day using gold stickers and yarn she felt her hand guided to make the "flip" and understanding of the "sliders" flowed into her mind. She copied it onto paper timed and dated it. After years of study and prayer she knew this had come as inspiriation from God and was right.
I know by the power of the Holy Ghost that Helen’s Atom represents truth and that truths do not conflict; they work together to testify of each other. Exacting order in the Atom testifies of God the Organizer of the Universe.
There is so much more to learn. May we each be receptive to the Holy Ghost to teach us more Truth.
